Education

Throughout the investigation and discernment process that led to the KBI, diocesan and parish leaders on both sides of the border reiterated the profound need in the parishes for education and formation on border issues, migration, and the Catholic social tradition.Accordingly, one of the primary tasks of the KBI will be to lead parish-based discussions, workshops, and training on border issues as they relate to the Catholic faith. A great benefit of working with the Mexican Jesuits is the practical wisdoms and experience they bring from having worked on these types of programs with communities affected by migration in southern Mexico.

Of particular interest to the universities, schools, and parishes of the Province, the KBI plans to host short-term delegations of students, faculty and parishioners at sites where they can learn about the realities of migration and the border in light of Catholic social teaching and Ignatian spirituality.
