The California Province brings together people from many cultures to worship and work in partnership. The Province's service area encompasses Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. The ministries include: pastoral ministries, spiritual retreat centers, educational ministries, and social ministries.
Jesuit Province of Mexico
The Jesuits of the Mexican Province have been engaged in migration ministry for many years, in particular through the programs of the Jesuit Migration Service.
Jesuit Refugee Service/USA
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support of an international office in Rome. The main areas of work are in the field of Education, Advocacy, Emergency Assistance, Health and Nutrition, Income Generating Activities and Social Services.
Diocese of Tucson
The Diocese of Tucson is comprised of nine counties with an area of 42,707 square miles. Geographically, the Diocese is the fifth largest diocese in the continental United States. In a total population of 1.45-million, there are an estimated 300,000-plus Roman Catholics who are served by 75 parishes, dozens of missions, 28 Catholic schools, six member agencies of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona, the Charity and Ministry Fund Inc., the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson, the Catholic Tuition Support Organization, Diocese of Tucson Catholic Cemeteries and hundreds of charitable and fraternal organizations.
Archdiocese of Hermosillo
The Archdiocese of Hermosillo is located in the northern Mexican state of Sonora, a region unique for its large geographic areas, population dispersion, natural beauty, as well as its rich diversity. It is bounded on the north by the Diocese of Tucson in the US, to the northeast by the Diocese of Nuevo Casas Grandes in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, to the east and south by the Diocese of Ciudad Obregón, to the west by the Gulf of California, and northwest by the Diocese of Mexicali. The Diocese is quite large -- encompassing 4.6% of national territory and approximately half the area of the state of Sonora.
Missionary Sisters of the Eucharist
The Misioneras de la Eucaristía are a Catholic women's religous community based in Colima, Mexico. The Misioneras have many years experience working with migrants and other vulnerable populations at the northern border of Mexico with the US. Prior to working with the KBI, the Misioneras worked closely with Borderlinks, a Tucson-based NGO working on the border, to welcome delegations from the U.S. interested in border issues. As KBI partners, the Misioneras have brought a practical knowledge of migration, a Gospel commitment to migrants, especially women, and a compassionate dedication to serve humbly God’s poor.
Borderlinks
BorderLinks is a bi-national, nonprofit educational organization at the U.S./Mexico border dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action around global political economics. Our programs focus on cross-border relationship building opportunities, issues of immigration, community formation and development, and social justice in the borderlands between Mexico, the U.S., and beyond. On average, nearly 1,000 individuals participate annually in BorderLinks learning opportunities which fall under two broad areas: Experiential education programs on globalization and the impact of the global economy—especially in reference to migration—through the lens of the border. These programs include our short-term delegations, academic immersion programs and community workshops. .
