Pray for our annual board retreat on September 14 – 15.
On September 14 and 15, Kino’s Board of Directors will hold its annual retreat. Last year the board asked: “Who do I know who can advance the cause of Kino and our immigrant siblings?” Now, since they have identified these people, this retreat will focus on how to start engaging conversations with those people, ones that forge genuine connection and communicate the urgency of pursuing Migration with Dignity.
Kino honors the life and legacy of Frank Barrios
The inimitable Frank Barrios recently passed away after a year-long illness. Executive Director Joanna Williams says, “Frank Barrios supported KBI since the beginning. With great enthusiasm, he and others in the Phoenix community started a barbeque fundraiser which has grown into our most important annual fundraising event. He was deeply committed to KBI’s mission, and we were proud to award him the Pope Francis Award in 2017. He exemplified St. Ignatius’ call to show our love through deeds and to care for our neighbors. We are grateful for his life, and will miss him dearly.”
His funeral mass will be held on September 21st. Click here to learn more about Frank and his impact.

Seeking unlocked Smartphone donations for CBP One.
The US government has opened the opportunity for asylum seekers to request an appointment to appear at the port of entry and speak directly with an agent. The way to make this appointment is by applying directly using a specific app on a smartphone. You can help ensure that every migrant has access to the system by donating your old smartphone. While this new system is a woefully insufficient step towards restoring asylum access, we are committed to helping as many of our migrant siblings access it as we can. Click here for details on how to donate a phone.
