It’s hard for to believe that we’re still fighting back Title 42 over 2.5 years later. KBI and the Revolucionarios, migrant organizers in Nogales, are grateful to do this work with others in solidarity who continue to elevate messages of welcome in communities across the U.S.
The Revolucionarios invite you to commemorate the internationally recognized World Day of Migrants and Refugees with a march entitled, “We March for Migrant Dignity” on September 26.
The march will begin with an intro at 11AM at the Kino Border Initiative Migrant Outreach Center in Nogales, Sonora and march down Reforma to the Plaza de las Golondrinas, where we will hear testimonies and share a call to action. There will be chants and songs, and several stops along the way.
The people in migration here want to lift up three obstacles to dignified migration:
1) Title 42, which after 2.5 years still keeps families seeking protection waiting in danger and uncertainty in Mexico
2) Border Patrol abuses against migrants: returning them to danger when they express fear of being sent back to Mexico, excessive and lethal force, and robbing precious and valuable belongings that they never return.
3) Lack of access to adequate healthcare in Nogales, Sonora which endangers migrants’ lives and quality of life while they are forced to wait for a fair hearing in the US.
Join us in solidarity on September 26th at 11:00am at the KBI Migrant Outreach Center.
