KBI April Announcements

This video still is from the debut “Witness from the Border” livestream a year ago, in which Andrés shared his testimony.

This month, we share news of recent and upcoming conferences about immigration, advocacy, and social justice as well as information about the KBI’s participation in another Facebook Live video conference and details about March immersions.

  • Live Video Conference: The KBI and the Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN) will host their third Facebook Live video conference, “Witness from the Border,” featuring updates from the KBI, a migrant testimony, and ideas from University of Scranton students on how to continue to take action after immersions. The live event will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 12:00pm PST/3:00pm EST. To tune in go to ISN’s Facebook page or like/follow the page to get an alert: https://www.facebook.com/IgnatianSolidarity/.
  • Faith and Justice Retreat: Father Sean Carroll, S.J. will be leading a non-silent retreat, “A Faith that Does Justice,” at the Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, CA from Friday through Sunday, April 27–29, 2018. It will focus on Ignatian spirituality as a means of promoting social justice and include reflections on ways to respond to social needs in our midst. For more information and to register, please go to: https://jrc.retreatportal.com/events/f?p=101:2:9655809074145::::PROGRAM_ID:2137.
  • The KBI on the Road: In mid-March, Father Pete Neeley, S.J. presented two workshops in Spanish at the Religious Education Conference in Los Angeles. He covered topics related to peace and justice and the KBI’s work at the U.S.–Mexico border.
  • CLINIC Convening 2018: As part of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. Inc. (CLINIC) annual conference, CLINIC Convening 2018, Father Sean Carroll, S.J. will be a plenary speaker. The theme of this training event, which covers immigration law, advocacy, and program management, is “Defending Hope and the American Dream.” For more information about this conference, scheduled for Wednesday to Friday, May 30–June 1, 2018 in Tucson, check out CLINIC’s web site for conference and registration info: https://cliniclegal.org/convening.
  • Immersion Experiences: March was a busy immersion month for the KBI with visits from high school, college, and religious groups from across the U.S.
