The Kino Border Initiative recognizes the tremendous impact that immersion experiences can have on delegations. They are provided the opportunity for direct service, for dialogue with people impacted by migration and for reflection on their experience and response.
The KBI typically offers delegations the opportunity for experiences of one to five days. The KBI staff can work with the delegation to schedule activities of interest to the group. For a fee, KBI can provide a lodging option during the immersion or delegations can make their own arrangements in Nogales.
“Dialogue, shared experience and storytelling are what I feel have the capacity to cause personal conversion and social change. The balance between this type of service and direct volunteering…was perfect.” – Testimony from a participant in an immersion experience
